Daily Social Isolation Tracker

Given the unprecedented nature of social isolation due to COVID-19, Horizon Media wanted to delve into how people were feeling about their social contact on a daily basis, and what they were doing to stay connected during social distancing measures. Everyday from March 26th to June 21st over 1,000 people shared their level of isolation, and the tactics they used to keep connected.

Daily Isolation Findings:

  • Average feelings of isolation hovered between a 4 and 5 on a 10 point scale, where 1 = extremely isolated and lonely and 10 = more connected that ever; isolation was at a 4.8 on the final day of tracking.
  • Text messaging/IMing, entertainment, and phone calls were among the top ways people stayed connected during social distancing measures
